Grafikfehler in Gnome und nVidia-Fehler in dmesg

Hallo alle zusammen,

nachdem ich globale USE-Flags für Multimedia-Anwendungen hinzugefügt
habe und ein Update mit --newuse durchgeführt hatte, wurden ~50 neue
Pakete gemerged. Anschließend wurde das System irgendwie träger. Dinge
die sonst blitzschnell gingen, dauerten plötzlich eine 1 Sekunde, wie
mit Nano eine Datei abspeichern. Wenn ich mit der Maus in Fenster über
das "X" oben, rechts gehe gibt es komische "Grafikfehler". Der
Fenstername in der mitte wird plötzlich weiß.

Ich habe dann alle
neuen USE-Flags aus der make.conf genommen und in die package.use
zu VLC geschrieben. Dann wieder mit --newuse aktualisiert. Dadurch wurde
es aber nicht besser. Wenn ich Texte tippe (z.B. hier in Firefox) uns
Backspace benutze wird dies erst nach 1 1/2 Sekunden erkannt. Auch Zeilenumbrüche dauern 1 Sekunde. Nur im
Terminal kann ich richtig tippen.

Auch ist aus Firefox Aurora geworden.

PS: Wie ihr seht habe ich auch noch Probleme mit dem Mounten von Freigaben. :|

"Das System spiel verrück" war vielleicht ein wenig übertrieben, da es eigentlich nur um Grafikfehler in den Gnome-Fenstern und Verzögerung beim Tippen im Browser geht.

Auch ist aus Firefox Aurora geworden.

Ist normal wenn firefox mit USE=bindist gebaut wurde (damit gibt es kein branding).

das gentoolkit habe ich drauf, vielen Dank für den Tipp! ;) Habe in der Zwischenzeit alle USE-Flags auf den Zustand zurückgesetzt zu dem ich noch keine Probleme hatte.

Nun sind die nvidia Fehlermeldungen verschwunden. Leider bin ich gerade nur per ssh drauf und kann das Verhalten von Gnome nicht testen. Aber ich werde heute Nachmittag berichten..

Update:

Die nvidia Fehlermeldungen sind wieder da. Ohne, dass etwas geändert wurde. Ich gehe davon aus, dass sie Gnome dann nach wie vor so komisch verhält.

Ich habe die /var/log/dmesg geleert, nach einem Neustart ist sie immer noch leer. Woran mag das liegen? :huh:

Wenn ich mit der Maus in Fenster über
das "X" oben, rechts gehe gibt es komische "Grafikfehler". Der
Fenstername in der mitte wird plötzlich weiß.

Das liegt evtl. an Gnome respektive nvidia und vdpau. Die Nvidia-Treiber mit Hardwarebeschleunigung zu verwenden geht nicht immer. Das muss man von Fall zu Fall testen. Auf jeden Fall scheint da ein Bug im Treiber zu sein, daher diese Meldung.

Info: Mit vdpau kannst du auch vaapi nutzen. Damit können Programme die nur vaapi nutzen auch in den Genuss der Hardwarebeschleunigung kommen.

Okay. Bedeutet das, dass ich vdpau und vaapi (das ich gerade in die make.conf aufgenommen habe) lieber da raus nehmen sollte und für bestimmte Pakete in die package.use aufnehmen sollte?
Vor der Anpassung der USE-Flags hat ja alles wunderbar funktioniert. Auch hatte ich da den gleichen Nvidia Treiber.. :huh: Was könnte ich tun um diesen Bug los zu werden?

Wäre davon abzuraten x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers mit ~amd64 in die package.accept_keywords aufzunehmen und es damit zu versuchen?

Mit den Updates ist es ja immer so eine Sache. Seh das mal so. Eine Software hat eine gewisse Anzahl von Bugs, das ist Fakt. Bei einem Update hofft man das diese Anzahl reduziert wir. Dem ist aber nicht so. Die Anzahl der Bug ist mehr oder weniger konstant und proportional zur komplexität der Software und der Intelligenz der Entwickler. Näherungsweise... :D Demnach verschiebt ein Update nur die Bugs. Von daher würde ich versuchen einen Treiber auszumachen der geht und erst mal bei diesem bleiben. Ständige Update helfen dir ja nicht weiter, es sei den du hast auch zu jedem Update immer neue Hardware oder du bist von einem Bug betroffen.
Wenn der jetzige Treiber nicht geht, oder nur halbwegs macht es natürlich sinn auch mal einen ~amd64 zu verwenden. Aber ständig... damit wirst du nicht glücklich, es sei den du bist Bughunter.

Ja, das entspricht auch ungefähr meiner Einstellung gegenüber Updates. ;) Da ich ja in diesem Fall von einem Bug betroffen bin, habe ich nun nvidia-drivers zu ~amd64 gewechselt. 5 Reboots lang habe ich die Meldungen nicht wieder gesehen. Übrig geblieben ist sind nur diese beiden Meldungen:

Das hilft aber leider nicht weiter, da das Fehlerbild sich nicht verändert hat (ich schreibe gerade wieder im Terminal um es gleich in den Browser zu kopieren ;( ). Was mich ein wenig stuzig macht ist, dass ich so früh solche Probleme bekomme. Wie du schon sagtest: Die Anzahl der Bugs (von denen man auch betroffen ist) ist abhängig von der Komplexität des Systems. Was das angeht bin ich ja absolut am Anfang. Die config-Files die ich bearbeitet habe kann ich fast an einer Hand abzählen. Und außer VLC, Clementine, Spotify, Firefox habe ich noch keine Programme installiert.

Ich hab mal ein emerge @module-rebuild durchgeführt, da ist mir aufgefallen, dass diese Meldung angezeigt wird:

Nachtrag: Okay, so wie es aussieht sind das nur Meldungen die ausgegeben werden könnten, sollten sie zutreffen. Ich bin kurz davor alles neu aufzusetzen.. aber am Ende sitze ich dann wieder mit dem gleichen Fehler da. :(

Noch zu deinem geschildertem Problem mit den Verzögerungen. Könntest du mal zum Testen die Shares die du mountest weglassen. Evtl. liegt es daran.

Das habe ich auch schon getestet. Leider macht auch das keinen Unterschied. Außer dass die cifs mount Fehler aus dem dmesg verschwinden..

Ich kenne mich jetzt zu wenig aus mit systemd aber eventuell könntest du mal probieren alles zu deaktivieren bis auf die wichtigsten Dienste und dann Stück für Stück einen Dienst wieder aktivieren und gucken ab wann es zum hängen beginnt !?.

Oder du weist zufällig was du so installiert hast oder editiert hast seit dem Auftreten des Problems.

Also bewusst Programme installiert habe ich wie gesagt kaum welche. Diese habe ich auch schon alle wieder deinstalliert. Ich denke es hat angefangen nachdem ich beigegangen bin und einfach jede für mich interessante USE-Flag (so ca. 15) von hier http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/use-index.xml ..in die make.conf eingetragen habe und danach eine Update mit --newuse gemacht habe. Dabei wurden ~70 Pakete gemerged. Diese USE-Flags habe ich dann aber alle wieder entfernt.

Ich werde morgen früh mal versuchen einen älteren nvidia Treiber zu installieren. Ansonsten setze ich das System neu auf und hoffe, dass ich den gleichen Fehler nicht wieder bekomme.

Ich habe da einen anderen weg eingeschlagen und zwar das System einfach mit den Standard use flags (install howto) zu installieren und dann Stück für Stück einfach use flags hinzufügen. Und da auch nur die ich wirklich brauche, mit

Ich bin dir für deine zurückhaltende Ausdrucksweise sehr verbunden. :rolleyes: Das war wohl ein echt blöder und typischer Anfängerfehler.
In Zukunft werde ich mit den USE-Flags vorsichtiger umgehen.. besonders was die make.conf angeht. Ich hoffe es ist in Ordnung wenn ich mich als Anfänger unter den Umständen in eine Neuinstallation flüchte. Sollte das Problem wieder auftauchen können wir ja diesen Thread wieder hoch holen. ;)

Habe schon angefangen und warte gerade darauf, dass nach dem Profilwechsel zu systemd/gnome alle Pakete neu gemerged werden (183 Stück). Gott sei Dank, hab ich jetzt erstmal 2 Wochen Urlaub.. :whistling:

Laut Handbuch wären für eine KDE Installation folgende USE-Flags in Ordnung:

Alle genannten USE-FLags sind in der make.defaults schon drin und je nach Profil (KDE oder Gnome) auch gnome oder kde. Ein emerge --info zeigt dir u.a. alle Flags. Wenn dann was dazu oder weg soll schreib es in deine make.conf. Aber nur wenn es alle Pakete haben sollen. Hier mal ein Beispiel für dvd und dem Programm euse aus dem Paket app-portage/gentoolkit. Das "D" steht für aktiviert in make.defaults.

Wenn du ein reines Gnome haben willst dann reicht ein USE="-kde -qt4 -qt5". Allerdings haben mache Programm nur qt Unterstützung. Diese Pakete solltest du dann einzeln behandeln. Auch muss man sich bei qt manchmal zwischen einem Flag (qt4 und qt5) entscheiden. Neben gtk gibt es noch gtk2 (nur 3 bei mir) und gtk3. Aber auch hier muss man sich bei einigen Programmen entscheiden, wobei hier eher die Entscheidung qt oder gtk getroffen werden muss.
Hier mal meine für ein Gnome3 System: USE="gnome gtk -gtk2 gtk3 nautilus networkmanager -kde -qt4 -qt5"

Okay :) Ich habe mich für den Anfang aus einem Mix von deinen und allen die mir von zu meinem Zielsystem passenden Wikis empfohlen wurden:

USE="bindist mmx sse sse2 gtk X dbus -qt4 -qt5 -kde vdpau vaapi nvidia gnome"

Die ersten 4 waren von Anfang an drin.

Was ich immer noch nicht so recht verstehe ist, warum z.B. in http://www.gentoo.de/doc/de/gnome-config.xml von rc-update geredet wird, wo Gnome doch nur mit systemd läuft. :huh: War das mal anders und das Wiki ist veraltet?

Das Wiki ist alt, sehr alt. Ganz oben steht 2011-10-23, Rev. 4. Das viele Wikis von rc-update reden ist OK. openRC wird offizell von gentoo unterstützt und wird auch immer noch offiziell als default Init-System verwendet. Das systemd ist noch nicht so alt bzw. noch nicht so lange im Einsatz. Gnome3 setzt aber systemd voraus. Es könnte auch mit openRC gehen, aber die Entwickler von Gentoo sehen keinen Grund jede Gnome3 Version so zu patchen das sie mit openRC läuft. Daher, jeder der Gnome3 will MUSS systemd verwenden. Da gibt es keine wahl. Gnome3 bootet zwar auch mit openRC aber es funktioniert nicht richtig. Für alles andere wie XFCE usw. kann man nach wie vor openRC nehmen, oder eben auch systemd.

Ach ich finde du machst das weit besser als ich damals :thumbsup: was ich so für (im Nachhinein) Schwachsinn oft gemacht habe kannst ja nachlesen hier im Forum heheh...

Das einlernen in Gentoo ist am Anfang sehr hoch da man alles ja selber einstellen kann/muss aber wart mal so ein halbes Jahr ca. dann willst du es echt nicht mehr missen wollen (obwohl ab und an mal grantig wird wenn ein update oder so nicht durchlaufen will)

Das weiter wurde ja eh schon beantwortet, ich hab es auch so geschrieben wie im Howto also mit (-gnome usw.. ) aber ich arbeite mit Xfce4 darum auch -kde aber das habe ich für mich als bessere Übersicht mit hinein geschrieben obwohl es im Profil ja schon steht.

Vielen Dank! :D

So, jetzt läuft das System wieder. Von der Geschwindigkeit her kein Vergleich. Alles ist rasend schnell.. keine Grafikfehler.. 4K-Videos die vorher mit 2 FPS liefen. laufen nun absolut flüssig.
Trotzdem habe ich immer noch die gleichen nVidia Fehlermeldung in dmesg.

..sogar noch mehr. Zusätzlich habe ich jetzt die Meldung ganz am Ende. Diese soll laut diesem Thread (-> https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-927030-start-0.html) durch den VESA frame buffer support kommen. Diesen wollte ich im Kernel deaktivieren. Doch wie es aussieht handelt es sich dabei um dem "uvesafb", den ich laut Handbuch doch extra wegen den nVidia Treibern installieren sollte. Jetzt bin ich etwas verwirrt.

Auch wollte ich im Kernel die Option "CONFIG_SND_HDA_PREALLOC_SIZE=64" auf min. 2048 setzen, da mir öfter per emerge-Meldung dazu geraten wurde. Jedoch finde ich diese Option gar nicht, wenn ich "genkernel --menuconfig all" aufrufe.

Auch wollte ich im Kernel die Option "CONFIG_SND_HDA_PREALLOC_SIZE=64" auf min. 2048 setzen, da mir öfter per emerge-Meldung dazu geraten wurde. Jedoch finde ich diese Option gar nicht, wenn ich "genkernel --menuconfig all" aufrufe.

Der Wert steht bei mir schon auf 2048 und ich habe ihn nicht geändert. Nutze genkernel-next, evtl. ändert der das. Finden tust du ihn dort wo die Intel HDA Soundkarte steht.
