Nvidia-Probs :(

Hi Leute!

Ich hab gentoo installiert und alls funktioniert, bis auf die OpenGL - Unterstützung. Wenn ich die Grafikkarte (GeForce 4MX 8x) mit dem "nv"-Treiber laufen lasse, funktioniert sie, aber wenn ich sie mit "nvidia" laufen lasse, versucht mein PC, den X-Server zu starten, aber es kommen nur komische Zeichen auf meinem Bildschirm!!! Was soll ich machen? Hier ist die log-Datei:

Ferndiagnosen sind immer schwierig, aber mir sind 2 Sachen aufgefallen.

1. Überprüf' mal deine /etc/X11/XF86Config Datei, Du scheinst das
Framebuffer Modul zu laden. Das ist aber nicht nötig mit den NVIDIA
Treibern ich würde das 'Load "fb"' aus deiner XF86config entfernen.

2 . Die Zeilen mit (hsync out of range). Hast du garantiert die richtigen
Werte für horizontale und vertikale Frequenz angegeben für deinen Monitor?
Bei der Konfiguration von X kann man Standardwerte angeben, die ich
aber nicht nehmen würde, nimm die die im Handbuch zu deinem Monitor stehen.

Ich würde dir empfehlen mal die binären Nvidia Treiber zu installieren. Einfach ein emerge nvidia-glx. Danach mußt du dann in deiner XF86Config, als Treiber nvidia anstatt von nv angeben.

Ich hab den nvidia - Treiber doch auch so (emerge nvidia-glx) installiert, ihn in modules.autoconf eingetragen, als theoretisch alles richtig, ich weiß aber net, warum es nicht funktioniert! Wenns was nützt, hier ist meine XF86config (Die Kommentare hab ich teilweise weggekürzt :)) :

Hmm, sieht OK aus. Bei mir noch Load "dbe" geladen, ist also nicht
auskommentiert.
Aber die Monitor Section kommt mir komisch vor, ich hab' für die vertikale
und horizontale Frequenzen da Bereiche stehen z.B. 60-80 Hz oder so
ähnlich. Glaube nicht das das bei dir stimmt.

Ne, daran liegt es nicht, ich hab schon mal die Frequenzen umgestellt. Das kann es nich sein. Mit dem dbe hab ich auch schon rumprobiert, da ist nichts passiert. Na ja, vielleicht installiere ich einfach das komplette System nochmal neu. Dann könnte es eventuell funktionieren *gg*

dri? mit nvidia? seit wann das denn? in allen howtos die ich bisher gewälzt hab stand immer das das deaktiviert gehört.....

Nun, ich hatte mal "dri" deaktiviert, da hat er bei mir (nachdem ich immer 'glxinfo' eingegeben habe) "GLX screen not found" (oder so ähnlich) gezeigt, bis ich mal "dri" aktiviert habe, seitdem klappt's bei mir relativ gut (NWN, etc.).

Also um das mal klar zu stellen, NVIDIA liefert seine eigenen Bibliotheken
mit, für den Zugriff auf die Grafikhardware, die benutzen DRI _nicht_ .
Von daher kann man DRI ruhig rauslassen aus der XF86Config.

Meine Modelines stammen noch von Mandrake.
Als Tools für nvidia-karten gibt es zum beispiel: nvoption, nvclock und nvtv.

MTRR hatte ich schon wegen framebuffer (bootsplash) aktiviert.

Danke für den Hinweis mit dem DRI im Kernel, der ist tatsächlich aktiviert (no idea, why).
