nVidia-Drivers 173.14.15 - KDE funktioniert mit nv aber nicht mit nvidia

Hi,

also, ich experimentiere nun 2 Tage rum um die nVidia-Drivers ans laufen zubekommen. Warum so eine alte? Systemvorraussetzungen ->

1. Grafikkarte nVidia Geforce FX5500 (wird anscheinend nur bis 173.14.15 unterstützt)
2. Kernel ist ein Genkernel-2.6.27-r8

Ganz am anfang hatte ich das Problem das daß GLX Modul nicht geladen werden konnte was ich gelöst habe mit eine Reinstallieren der nVidiatreiber, aber dennoch bekomm ich meine KDE / meinen Xserver nicht ans laufen wenn ich in /etc/X11/xorg.conf auf nvidia umstelle.

Also für die Grakas gibt es in der /etc/make.conf ja die Var VIDE_CARDS zu setzen. Für dich würde ich mal das empfehlen

1	VIDEO_CARDS="nv nvidia vesa vga"

Da die 5er Serie vom proprietären Treiber wirklich nur bis 172.14.12 unterstützt wird solltest du diese Teile entsprechend maskieren:

1 2	# echo ">x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-172.14.12" >> /etc/portage/package.mask # echo "=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-172.14.12 ~*" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

Anschließend ein

und es werden dir die notwendigen Teile ins System gespült.

Teste dann mal anschließend ob du das nvidia-Modul "händisch" laden kannst.

1. Guck ob es überhaupt schon im Kernel ist

1	# lsmod \| grep nvidia

2. Wenn schon im Kernel: wirf es raus:

1	# rmmod nvidia

3. Test ob das Modul funkt:

1	# modprobe -v nvidia

... damit sollte dein X11 auch zufriden sein.

Ich kann dir leider im Moment nur sagen das die Kiste scheitert beim installieren der nVidiatreiber, er sagt

Wieso x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-100.14.19? Was hast du gemacht? Du solltest doch die 173.13.12 ziehen ...

Dir ist klar, das das ein anderes Ding ist, wie in der Post davor? Das ist nicht derselbe Output.

=) ... ist eine seltsame Geburt, deine Gentoo-System. Noramlerweise ist das nicht so mühsam.

Jedenfalls habe ich gesehen, das nvidia-173.14.12 mit Kernels ab 2.6.27 nicht gut kann (und zwar: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242156) ... thihihihi .... das ist ja echt schräg! Du hast echt Pech, Freund.

Sieht aber so aus, als könnte die knapp nächste Version 173.14.15 das wieder machen können. Kannst du die /etc/portage/package-FIles korriegieren und auf 173.14.15 setzen? (Weis jetzt nicht, ob die 5x-Serie davon wiederum bedient werden kann ... ein Teufelskreis).

Deine kernel Sources scheinen nicht mit deinem Aktuell laufenden kernel zusammenzupassen.
Also setze den Symlink auf die Kernel Sources korrekt, zb mit

	Quellcode
1 2	eselect kernel list eselect kernel set NUMMER

und kompiliere den Kernel.
Dann sollte auch der nvidia-drivers sich korrekt übersetzen und auch das Treiber-Modul laden lassen.

Da du anscheinend noch recht neu bei gentoo bist beschreibe ich es noch etwas ausführlicher

Nachdem du wie bereits oben beschrieben den Symlink auf die Aktuellen Kernel Sources (zb 2.6.27-gentoo-r7) gesetzt hast könntest du die config des Aktuell laufenden Kernel verwenden, diese kopierst du zb mit

	Quellcode
1	zcat /proc/config.gz > /usr/src/linux/.config

Damit hast du schon mal die .config
Nun kannst du mit

	Quellcode
1	genkernel all

den kernel kompilieren, weitere Infos gibt es zb hier http://www.gentoo.de/doc/de/genkernel.xml
Nun solltest du unter /boot ein kernel Image und initramfs vorfinden, erstelle hierfür noch einen neuen Eintrag in /boot/grub/grub.conf siehe hierzu zb auch http://www.gentoo.de/doc/de/handbook/han…ok_part1_chap10 Abschnitt Befehlsauflistung 2.4: grub.conf für genkernel Benutzer
und Boote dann diesen neuen Kernel.
Nun sollten sich auch die nvidia-drivers korrekt installieren lassen.
Wenn du weitere Hilfe benötigst sage bescheid.

schiebt den kernel, die initrd und die System.map bereits nach /boot.

An deinem System ist irgendwie was faul. Wenn du mit dem Ding online bist, und es von außen erreichbar ist dann könnte ja jemand von uns via ssh/screen darauf zugreifen und du kannst mitgucken, wie wir was machen auf dem Ding ... hm?

Hi,

ja, irgendwas ist da grundlegend im argen und weil mir das etwas auf den Keks ging hab ich mich hingesetzt und geschaut was passiert wenn ich ne andere Distri ausprobiere was ich getan habe mit Ubuntu 8.10, ebenfalls x86_64 und soweit ich sehen kann läuft es bestens wodurch ich nun ausschließen kann das Gentoo als x86_64 richtig gewesen ist.

Ich setz mich gleich dran und installier nochmal neu -> hab noch nen Laptop mit Gentoo wodurch ich euch bitten möchte das wenn möglich, mir einer die Liste für Useflag postet, das was ich unbedingt brauch ist ->

- mp3, kde, kein python oder sonstiges wo man programmieren mit kann, cd /cdr /cdrw /dvd/ dvdr / dvdrw

der Rest ist mir egal, handelt sich um ein stinknormales Desktopsystem was per Gateway / Router ins Web geht.

Betreffend SSH -> klar, kein Ding - ich mach die Basis (Grundinstallation) mit der LiveCD und paße das Gentoo danach an und wenn die Basis da ist kommt zuerst SSH dran, melde mich wenn ich soweit bin wieder, da kann wenn wer mag sich umschauen auf der Kiste.

LOL! Du kannst ausschließen, das Gentoo x86_64 richtig gewesen ist, weil Ubuntu x86_64 funkt? Irgendwo knackt's da in meiner Logik ... *g*

python & gcc benötigst du bei Gentoo prinzipiell, da Gentoo ja eine Source-Based Distiri ist und python als Script-Sprache für Portage verwendet.

Wg. USE-Flags ... fange einfach mal klein an ... ufed kann dich dabei unterstützen. Ist ein Progie welche dir die bequem die USE ein und ausschlaten läßt.

Ich weis, es gitb viele, viele USE ... aber es wird überschaubar. Für dich "kde" kann schon mal reichen ;)

Hi,

Ok, ich bin jetzt soweit das ich die "Basis" habe, die *.conf's angepaßt habe, gerade ein "emerge --newuse world" gefolgt von einem "emerge kde" durchläuft, ssh ist installiert, muss dann bloß noch schnell meine Routerconfig abändern da die derzeit auf xxx.xxx.xxx.100 steht und aber auf 103 gewechselt hat.

Ich weis jetzt nicht wer von euch beiden oder ob ihr alle beide mal per SSH schauen wollt, schreibt mir einfach ne PM und ich antworte euch wenn ich es soweit hab mit der Routerconfig

Puh.. wenn ja wirst du vermutlich wieder in die gleichen Fallen tapen.., sprich die nicht vorhandenen, oder nicht mit dein Aktuell laufenden Kernel zusammenpassenden Kernel Sourcen welche für das kompilieren externer Treiber Module wie die nVidia-drivers nötig sind.

Oder hast du dir schon einen Kernel kompiliert?

Ja, hab die neue Installation auch mit der LiveCD gemacht, nur diesmal es erstmal bei dem Kernel der LiveCD belassen bei der letzten Installation war das nach dem anpaßen der 2 te Schritt mit dem neuen Kernel, ist nen 2.6.24-r7 da es unter umständen auch am Kernel gelegen haben kann das die nVidiatreiber nicht funktionierten und der 2.6.24 ein älterer ist mit dem sie funktionieren müssten.

SSH sollte erst mal nicht nötig sein, oder gibt es aktuelle Probleme?

Sven, der Installer der LiveCD kopiert dir nur ein lauffähiges Kernel Image ohne Sources
Zum kompilieren der nVidia-drivers benötigst du aber zwingend zum kernel passende Sources!

Ok, du hast nun also ein 2.6.24-r7 kernel Image, nun benötigst du noch die Sources
diese 2.6.24-r7 Version gibt es aber nicht mehr in portage, verfügbar währen zb 2.6.24-r8
Also installiere diese mit

	Quellcode
1	emerge -av =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.24-r8

und setze wie weiter oben in diesem Thread schon von mir beschrieben den Symlink und kompiliere den kernel (wie bereits oben beschrieben)

Ohne Sources und dazu passendes Makefile wird es dir nicht möglich sein externe Treiber wie die nvidia-drivers zu installieren!
Lass dich nun nicht abschrecken, einen Kernel zu übersetzen ist unter Gentoo sehr einfach!
Wenn du nicht weiterkommst melde dich, wir helfen gern weiter..

Hab mit meiner Nvidia 5200 übrigends das selbe problem -> als tipp der letzte stable treiber von nividia der funtzt ist 173.14.09 alle drüber sind beta treiber.
dieser Treiber läuft noch mit allen 2.6.26 kerneln ab 2.6.27 nicht mehr.

Ich persönlich bevorzuge jedoch
kernel 2.6.25-r9 mit nvidia 173.14.09

Wobei mir das mit dem Treiber und der alten karte auch nicht wirklich passt da ext4 erst richtig im 2.6.28 integriert wird der warscheinlich auch nicht laufen wird.

Wie schaut es denn mit den nvidia-drivers-173.14.15 aus, hast du es mit diesen schon mal mit einem >=2.6.27 kernel probiert?

Geht man zb auf nvidia.com und lässt sich einen Treiber für die GeForce 5er-FX Reihe heraussuchen so wird der 173.14.12 empfohlen..
Die Beta Treiber müssen nicht unbedingt schlecht sein, ich würde es einfach mal austesten.

Ich würde den Tipp von cyrix1983 aber erst mal beherzigen, demnach alles aktuellere erst mal mit

	Quellcode
1	# echo ">x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.09" >> /etc/portage/package.mask

maskieren.

Ich hab alle 173 Nvidia versionen mit dem 2.6.27 kernel versucht es läuft keine einzige Version. Der 2.6.27 läuft nur mit dem 177 treiber mit dem dann die Geforce 5 nicht läuft.

Ich werde wohl an dem Rechner einfach den nv treiber verwenden, da der Rechner eh nur zum Surfen diehnt und als VDR.

Hi,

Vorwort

Erstmal entschuldigung das ich mich heut erst melde - hatte allerdings Montage die uneingeplant war!

Zum Thema

Was Cyrix sagt kann ich anhand dem was mir passiert ist nur bestätigen - ich hab die nVidiatreiber ans laufen bekommen!
Ans laufen bekommen hab ich sie in der Version 173.14.09 und mit dem LiveCD Kernel 2.6.24-r7.

Somit setz ich das Thema mal auf gelöst.
Vielen dank Leutz das ich so ne Geduld mit mir Genttoo-Noob habt!
